With Spring quickly approaching, the pastels and florals are coming back! When I think of Spring makeup, I think of freshly blushed faces, pastel lids and nude/pink lips. Along with blossoms of flowers in hair, braids and bohemian waves. Spring looks always look flirty, feminine and fresh. MUA have been keeping track of the catwalk trends and the Spring/Summer 2015 vibes as displayed on their Pinterest mood board. As you can see, there is a focus on florals and pastels:

This year's Spring/Summer 2015 trends on the catwalk have shown dewy skin and light colours pops on the eyes, teamed with a naturally moistened lip. The looks are fresh, youthful and innocent. Makeup has been kept to a minimal for a fresh natural beauty, whilst using a subtle hint of the pastel trends either on the eyes, lips or nails.
Rochas showed a pastel blue eyelid, with thick 'spidery' mascara on the upper lashes and dot of eyeliner below each eye. This look is simple, yet looks new and fresh. I also get a sense of the Twiggy 60's style with the separated eyelashes. The skin has a beautiful glow to it which looks 'barely there' and effortless. The eyebrows have been brushed through but left natural. The lips have a gorgeous natural peachy pink pout. They look moist, almost as if the models are wearing a tinted balm.

MUA provide the perfect products to help create a look similar to Rochas SS15 above. Below, I have created an image to display them. They have a large range or eyelashes to create the desired shape, and mascara to create a natural length and shape.
Spring Break Palette - £4
MUA Luxe Voluminous Felt Liner - £3
False Eyelashes Vixen - £2
Extreme Volume Mascara - £2
Pearl Eyeshadow Shade 23 - £1
Sweet Sheen Lip Balm Pink Lilly - £2
Matthew Williamson showed the divine purple eyelids, which had a glossy sheen which was carried all the way up to the brows. The colour on the eyes created the entire look, along with beautifully highlighted skin and inner corners of the eyes. To add to this beautiful spring/summer look, they have created a lovely rosy cheek to match the colour of the lips. This makes a really fresh finish to the makeup.
Charlotte Tilbury, lead makeup artist for the show, used flowers from the prints and embroidery as her inspiration for this design, “My vision was hibiscus flowers
bursting from the eyes, as if they were bejewelled and bathed with a gorgeous
pink light.”

These looks created by MUA for the Spring Break campaign have particularly inspired me. I believe that MUA has created a broad range of pastel eye colours, blushers, peachy lip colours and the perfect skin products to create a natural and fresh glow. The makeup at Rochas has a similar innocence to the makeup and I am particularly a fan of the pointy lashes as they remind me of petals, linking with the floral theme that MUA has gone for. In my look I would also like to create a bohemian floral incorporated braided style as I believe that this will add to the innocence of the look.
At Rochas PFW for their Spring/Summer 15 collection, the clothing shows a delicate floral focus. The women all look extremely feminine and effortlessly beautiful. The pastels in the clothing shows that pastels are yet again a high demand for the Spring. This floral effect is something that I would like to use for the hairstyle's inspiration. The greens and whites compliment the pastel pinks and purples of the makeup, which is something I could add to the hair design.
The models here all look fair skinned, fair haired and have feminine features. I feel that choosing a model with a look similar to this will really work with creating a Spring/Summer look to represent MUA. The look will be charming and elegant.

"Inspired by the first few moments of sunrise" Monique Lhuillier's beautiful SS15 collection displayed an array of delicate pastels. The collections colours included "soft hues of pink, coral, mint green, sky blue, lavender and pale yellow". The colours flowed along the runway with elegance, yet the collection was kept youthful with the inclusion of "modern elements, noir coated mesh, laminated lace, iridescent metallic piping and liquid satin".

This collection has inspired me to include different textures to the makeup and hair look for the Spring/Summer look. The pastels look beautiful matte, and the metallics create a contrasting glow. I particularly enjoyed the lavender with silver. This has inspired my to create a highlighted skin texture, including the brow bones and inner corners, regardless of the final choice of colour.
Make-Up Mood Board:
My mood board shows the inclusion of very soft makeup with ranges of subtle hints of pastel colours to the eyes. The lips are left looking natural, and pink with either a gloss or shine finish. The cheeks have a gentle blush in all of these e=images to create a fresh and youthful effect. I have also included a few of the products to aid the creation of these looks.
Testing:
I have created a fresh coverage on the face and concealed the eyes and created a very natural contour. On the cheeks I used MUA Shimmer Kiss in Pink Shimmer Kisses to create a soft blush which has a beautiful natural glow to it. In photographs this creates a dewy look even though the blusher is powder. On the lips I added a hint of tinted lip balm to create a natural finish.
Inspired by Rochas, I decided to use a similar shade of pastel blue. I applied this around the circumference of the eyes to create a soft blue smoked eye. The pastel colour is right on trend and creates a lovely finish for a Spring look. I applied some black mascara to the eyes to make the eyes pop and kept the blushed cheeks and lips.
For this look I was inspired by the purple at Matthew Williamson. I applied MUA's Matte Eyeshadow in Shade 18 over the eyelids and slightly under the eyes, focusing more on the outer corners. On the inner corners I used a shimmer MUA shade as a highlighter and also added this to the cheekbones. This created a very fresh look which I think works beautifully with the purple. I applied this light shimmer shade to the cupids bow over the top of the pink lip shade. I think this look is perfect for a Spring/Summer look to represent MUA. For a more complete look I would like to create a little more definition to the eyebrows but still kept looking natural.
The eyelashes at Rochas had a pinched effect which has inspired me for the eyelash effect above. Rather that pairing this with blue eyeshadow, I think this works well with the purple and creates a flower-like look.
Face Chart:
My final makeup design created for the MUA Spring/Summer look consists of multiple SS15 catwalk trends. The skin has a soft highlighted glow and naturally blushed cheeks to create a fresh and youthful look. The lips have a subtle hint of pink which have been finished off with a bit of Carmex for a healthy moisturised look. The eyes are a soft purple with separated eyelashes created using lots of black mascara. The eyebrows are filled in to create a natural definition to complete the look.

Hair Mood Board:
To team with the floral inspired makeup, I would like to create a complimentary soft hairstyle. The texture of the hair in this mood board is soft and floaty, either braided or in a messy updo. I particularly love the incorporation of flowers in the hair to represent new life in Spring and the idea that it would create a pleasant smell. I want to create a sense of innocence with the hair to match the makeup.
Testing:
Inspired by the image in the above mood board, this messy bun is textured and soft. The bun on the top of the head looks youthful and the messiness of the hair makes it look innocent. To create this look, I simply created a ponytail on the top of the head. I twisted the hair up into a bun and secured with a hair tie. I then pulled out any look hairs and rubbed with my hands to create more.
This look has to be executed well in order for the messiness of the hair to look deliberate, rather than a mistake. I feel like this could work better for a high fashion shoot, rather than for a beauty look.
This style of twisted hair around the hair has been inspired by Valentino's SS15 hair style. I really liked the shape and messy texture, created by loosely twisting the hair inwards around the head. I gradually secured the hair into place as I went along using grips. The hair at Valentino had delicate accessories incorporated into the hair, such as small flowers.
Although this look is ideal in shape and softness, I really would like to use braids within the hairstyle. I feel this will create a more intricate design to suit the femininity of the theme of the makeup.

MUA recently posted onto their Facebook page how to recreate this gorgeous makeup look on Maggie Grace using their products to create a delicious natural look. This makeup look is similar to the tones of naturally blushed cheeks and lips that I will be creating. The hair with the natural look on Maggie is created with braids and accessories which I believe compliment the complexion and style of look beautifully.
With the above image posted by MUA, it is clear that this look is suitable for the brand. To create this style, I created a centre parting and plaited up the hair from the back and crossed them over at the front. These plaits were then positioned and secured so the ends were disguised. Added to this look will be delicate flowers (probably fake) to continue with the floral influence.
I think this look will be the perfect pairing with the chosen makeup and will compliment it beautifully. The flowers in the hair will be white with green stems. This influence has come from the Rochas SS15 collection and will create the perfect balance with the purple. I would change this look slightly by loosening hair out at the front and curling them to create a softness around the face.
Hair Chart:
This hair chart shows how the plaits will be positioned at the front of the head behind the loose strands of hair. The flowers will be positioned within the plaits and distributed evenly. Here we can see how the hair at the front will be loosely curled around the front of the face to create a soft look.
